I am the head of the Contilia Center for Esophageal Diseases at the Elisabeth Hospital in Essen and the Esophageal and Gastric Cancer Surgery at the Elisabethen Hospital in Frankfurt.
I am working in the team of the surgeons of the Department of General Surgery in the Elisabeth Hospital Essen.
I am head of the Esophageal and Gastric Cancer Surgery at the Elisabethen Hospital in Frankfurt.
This largest Hospital of the Contilia Group comprises all specialists for the treatment of patients with esophageal or gastric cancer. I have a very close cooperation with the Department of Gastroenterology, as the internists have a special expertise for endoscopies and for endoscopic resections. They perform many endoscopic removals of small tumors in the esophagus or stomach. Therefore all options for these types of cancer are available. The weekly tumor board of surgeons and gastroenterologists is performed together with the radiologists, the oncologists and the radiation oncologists of the University Hospital Essen. By these means all multimodal therapies can be performed in close interdisciplinary cooperation. The anesthesiologists and intensivists have large experience with anesthesia during complex surgical procedures and are our close partners in the operating room and on the intensive care unit.
I worked closely together with the Visceral Surgeons of the Elisabethen Hospital Frankfurt since 2016, which represents a very professional team building. The chief gastroenterologist and the consultants have a high expertise in gastrointestinal endoscopy and endoscopic interventional techniques. This cooperation facilitates reliable diagnostics and offers all endoscopic options of cancer treatment. The modern imaging procedures of the well equipped Department of Radiology are another important supplement. A cooperation is established with oncologists and radiotherapists for the weekly tumor boards and multimodal therapies. Based on this broad spectrum all therapies for gastrointestinal cancer are available for the individual patient. The anesthesiologists and intensive care specialists have a great experience with complex surgical procedures and are our reliable partners in the operating theatre and on the intensive care unit.
